I started my teaching career in 2007. I have a B.A. in Political Science and a Masters Degree in Education. I am certified to teach all social studies classes 6-12. I enjoy fishing, camping, hiking, cooking, and watching PGA golf, college and pro football games. (GO Spartans and GO Lions!) My favorite foods are almost anything cooked on the grill, sushi, Mexican food, and fresh fruits and veggies...especially from local farms! I spent most of my summers growing up around Lake Charlevoix (just north of Traverse City) and try to get back there as much as I can to visit and vacation. I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters who live in the Memphis TN area. I travel south to visit them when I can. If you haven't visited that area before I highly recommend checking it out.
My advice for students:
Be yourself, trust yourself, work hard in your classes and you will be rewarded with a lifelong education. A high school diploma will open up the doors of life for you and your teachers are here to help you every step of the way.
Hold on tight to your dreams and don't be afraid to fail.
Albert Einstein failed an entrance exam to high school and was unsuccessful as an insurance salesmen and quit before becoming famous.
Bill Gates first software company called Traf-O-Data was a disaster and went out of business.
Jim Carrey at age 15 worked as a janitor to help his family pay the bills. And during his first performance at a comedy club in Toronto he was booed off the stage.
JK Rowling's book "Harry Potter" was rejected by 12 major publishing houses before finally being accepted.
Here's a quote I like to share:
"If you wait until you feel brave enough to do all the scary stuff you dream about, you'll die still dreaming..."
